A Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) smartphone-controlled electronic safe lock, manufactured in Australia by K.J. Ross Security Locks. No entry pad on the safe door — all access control and validation happens through a smartphone app, fully off-grid with no internet or cloud.

Smartphone-Controlled (No Entry Pad)

Unlike traditional electronic locks, the ROSS BLE has no entry pad on the safe door — all access control and validation happens through a smartphone app.

Fully Off-Grid

No internet or cloud is used. All authorised users and encrypted eKeys are stored directly on the lock's internal PCB controller.

Setting Up Access (Administrator App)

The Administrator App is used by the lock owner to set the access rules and distribute eKeys to users.

Operating modes:

  • Manual mode: opening requires the user to press an Unlock button on their smartphone
  • Pin-Secured mode: opening requires the user to enter a PIN on their smartphone before the lock will open

eKey profiling:

  • The administrator profiles each eKey before distribution by setting a date and/or time profile that defines exactly when the lock can be opened with that eKey
  • Each eKey is sent to its user as a steganographically encrypted SMS attachment unique to that user’s smartphone — it will not work on any other device
  • The lock controller can store up to 96 active eKeys; additional eKeys can be purchased through the app when the quota is reached
  • An Audit Trail display is available within the Administrator App, showing the lock’s open/close history

Opening the Lock (User App)

The user receives their eKey via encrypted SMS attachment from the administrator, then uses the User App on the registered smartphone to open the lock.

1. Open the User App with the registered eKey installed
2. Bring the smartphone within Bluetooth range of the safe
3. Manual mode: press the Unlock button in the app · Pin-Secured mode: enter your PIN in the app
4. The eKey is validated against the date/time profile. If valid, the lock opens and the safe handle can be turned

ⓘ The Open activation period is configurable by the administrator from 1 second up to 4 minutes. Automatic re-lock occurs at the end of the activation period — no manual locking required. A low-battery warning is displayed in the User App when battery voltage is low.

Key-Override (Emergency Access)

The ROSS BLE ships with a Key-Override system as standard, allowing the safe to be opened without a smartphone if needed (e.g. battery failure, lost phone, or admin loss of access).

  • 6 pick-resistant levers with a restricted profile WAVE key
  • Each lock is registered — keys can be supplied at time of purchase, or supplied later when a key opening is necessary
  • The Escutcheon and WAVE Keyhole Insert are installed in the spindle hole of the safe door
  • Restricted profile keys are assembled under registered control. Through a joint agreement with a compliant service agency, keys can be assembled on-site and dismantled once the key has served its purpose
